Families First Faces Funding Cuts

On April 27, 2010 Governor Paterson put out a new set of budget cuts that could potentially eliminate state funding to the William Hoyt Children and Family Trust Fund, which is the source of funding for Family Resource Centers in New York State.  This includes Families First.  If this cut were to remain in the 2010-2011 budget all the Family Resource Center programs at Families First would cease in September.

This would cause many free opportunities for families to disappear from the North Country.  These activities may include our weekly playgroup, weekly family support group, and Family Fun Days.

In an effort to stave off a 100% cut, the Hoyt Fund is cutting its funding for Family Resource Centers by 25%, which translates to a $9,000 cut for Families First.  If these programs are important to you, please contact your legislators now.  Ask them to put our State's children ahead of anything else!  Ask them to restore funding to the Hoyt Trust Fund for Children and Families.
